Duck & Seek: A Rubber Duck Scavenger Hunt in Downtown Fredericksburg

Find all 13 Ducks before October ends!

October 15, 2026

Thirteen rubber duckies have escaped the FXBG Visitor Center, and they need your help finding their way home!

From October 14–31, families are invited to explore downtown Fredericksburg on a fun, free scavenger hunt along Caroline Street. These sneaky ducks are hiding in shop windows throughout the 600–900 blocks of Caroline Street, and it's up to you to find all 13!

Ready to join the hunt? Here's how to play:

  1. Pick up your hunt sheet. Stop by the FXBG Visitor Center, open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., to get started.
  2. Keep your eyes peeled! Look for four different duck designs pictured on your hunt sheet.

You'll need to find two of Duck #1, three of Duck #2, five of Duck #3, and three of Duck #4.

  1. Record your discoveries. Write down the name of the shop where you find each duck next to its matching picture on your sheet.
  2. Look high and low! Some ducks are hiding up high in the windows, so be sure to look both up and down as you stroll along Caroline Street.
  3. Claim your prize! Once you've tracked down all 13 rubber duckies, return your completed hunt sheet to the Visitor Center to receive a prize!

This is a fun way to get the family outside, explore downtown Fredericksburg, and discover some of the local shops along the way.

The hunt runs October 14–31, so grab your hunt sheet and get quacking!
