October 8, 2026

Get ready to quack, cheer, and celebrate fall! The City of Fredericksburg and Fredericksburg Mainstreet are launching a brand-new family event, and we think it sounds like a pretty fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon!

Quacktoberfest is coming to Fredericksburg on Saturday, October 17, from 2–6 p.m. This FREE community festival will bring together all kinds of fall fun, including the long-awaited return of the Fredericksburg Rubber Ducky Derby — plus carnival rides, vendors, live music, fall-themed activities, and more.

 What's Happening at Quacktoberfest?

The festival runs from 2–6 p.m. and will feature:

  • Fall-themed activities
  • Carnival rides
  • Live music
  • Vendors
  • The Rubber Ducky Derby at 3 p.m.
  • and more!

And when the sun goes down, the fun continues with Movie in the Park featuring Darkwing Duck followed by a showing of Hocus Pocus! Grab your lawn chairs, cozy flannels, and the whole family for an afternoon and evening of fall fun.

Rubber Ducky Derby!

Remember those little yellow ducks that were supposed to race down the river during Fourth in Fredericksburg? They're finally getting their chance to race!

The Rubber Ducky Derby starts at 3 p.m. on October 17. The race was originally scheduled as part of the Fourth of July festivities but had to be postponed because of the extreme heat.

Haven't adopted a duck yet? There's still time! Ducks are available for adoption, but they're going fast — and once they're gone, they're gone! Adopt your Rubber Duck here

And here's the really fun part: your duck could win you a prize! 🏆 Check out the Rubber Ducky Derby Facebook post to see the prizes up for grabs.

Bring the family, grab your lawn chairs, and throw on your favorite flannel. Whether you're there to cheer on your duck, enjoy the fall activities, or snuggle up for Hocus Pocus, Quacktoberfest looks like a fun new Fredericksburg tradition in the making!
